Emetophobia treatment

Emetophobia refers to an intense, irrational fear of vomit. Although emetophobia is a common specific phobia, unfortunately, there is little research surrounding it. At times, emetophobia can greatly impact an individual’s day-to-day life.

I work with those struggling with emetophobia by incorporating Exposure Therapy (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Individuals are gradually exposed to triggering stimuli in order to learn how to tolerate uncomfortable feelings/sensations and face their fear.

Kaitlyn’s Experience

My passion to help those struggle with emetophobia largely stems from my personal experiences with this specific phobia. In my childhood, I developed emetophobia, which continued into my adolescence/early young adult years. With the help of mental health professionals, I learned how to challenge and cope with this phobia. I learned how to embrace uncertainty.

When I entered the psychotherapy world as a mental health professional, I noticed a huge need for proper emetophobia treatment. Discussion surrounding this specific phobia is limited, despite the prevalence of it. This ignited a strong passion to help others who are suffering from emetophobia.

I deeply understand the struggles that come along with emetophobia. I am here to to tell you, you can recover. You can live a life that isn’t dominated by anxiety and emetophobia. You can tolerate discomfort, let go of control, and live freely— and I’m here to walk alongside with you.
